For more than 95 years, we’ve had the privilege of being stewards of the Tri-State’s overwhelming support where the Evansville Rescue Mission has been able to continue the good work we started long ago in distributing Thanksgiving food baskets to the poor in our community. In recent years, we’ve been able to provide more than 1,400 food baskets to Tri-State families living at or below the federal poverty line and with the present state of the economy, we’re looking to see possibly a greater number of families signing up to receive a food basket this year. It’s our goal to distribute food to at least 1,700 Tri-State families this Thanksgiving so no one will go hungry during the holidays.
Our signature event will take place on Tuesday, November 20 at our new Rescue Mission Residence Center (500 E. Walnut St.) where we’ll have six food distribution times (10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1, 3:30, 5 and 6:30 p.m.). Here, families will be able to receive a food baskets filled with Thanksgiving-themed items (40-50 total) that will assist families throughout the Thanksgiving weekend.
